divine idea

god has been teaching me a lot lately. a lot about who HE is, and who i am. see a few posts below for more details on this, but i just can't get over the beauty and joy of discovering mysteries from our father.  you may be familiar with the ACTS method of prayer, it's simply breaking up your prayer time into (1) adoration, (2) confession, (3) thanksgiving, and (4) supplication. pretty simple and easy to remember, i've been using this method for quite some time. last night i enjoyed center point's final evening of the prayer study "in sync with god", where i was introduced to  a new prayer method i'd never seen before.

enter... the prayer wheel

isn't it fancy? unfortunately when i look at it, i imagine a prayer pie...

 mmmmmmm pie.

ok, ok back to the prayer pie wheel. it's basically 12 segments of prayer 'topics' if you will. each is to last five minutes to equal one hour of prayer. this is a long time to pray, but i liked what mr. tim parson's suggested...just start with one minute each!

during our fellowship time i got to talk to my lovely friend, holly (she has an awesome blog that you can read here!) while discussing the prayer pie wheel, holly had an awesome idea to use the wheel to pray for just one specific thing. this got me excited, i imagined using the wheel to pray for wisdom, friendships, healing...anything really! we had also been discussing the idea of god transforming us into proverbs 31 ladies (which is something that's been on my <3 for a while). after our discussion i couldn't stop thinking about the idea of using the prayer wheel to pray for each individual characteristic of a proverbs 31 lady.

i plan on doing this! a while ago i put these proverbs 31 characteristics into my own words and wrote them in my journal. i'll share them with you in hopes they speak to you, and maybe we can share our prayer pie wheel journey. i can't wait to see what god will do with us, his beloved daughters.

  • wise...do i go to the lord with all my decisions?
  • charitable & generous...do i give what isn't mine?
